Fight the Machine in 2018!

Welcome to 2018! A new year is upon us, and we hope you enjoyed 2017 in Pirate101. If you’re looking to catch up, please review Professor Falmea’s Producer’s Letter, which talks about how Pirate101 has grown wider. As for the future, Professor Falmea says, “We’re already talking about our plans for 2018. While it’s much too early to confirm anything specific, we’re really excited to continue to add fun to the Spiral next year!

December was a month full of presents and prizes in Pirate101, and it was our most festive season yet thanks to all the holiday updates mentioned in Falmea’s Producer’s Letter. Did you find all the hidden snowmen in the Spiral? Did you find a hidden spot you think would be perfect for another Snowman? Let us know on the Message Boards!

Read on for more great information and regular articles about Pirate101.

Rogue’s Gallery: Tyson

We had a request early in the month to show off Tyson’s backstory and agreed that he’d make a good jumping point from the Magnificent Seven. Tyson doesn’t say much, but the moments you spend with him (and the interesting figures in the crowd) in the Medicine Show Fighting Ring are quality moments you won’t soon forget. If you’re a Musketeer, he’ll aid your cause freely...if you’re another class, he’ll be convinced to come along for a few Crowns. Enjoy!

Subject: Tyson

Home: Cool Ranch

Weapon of choice: His mighty fists!

Occupation: Pugilist

The youngest of ten brothers, Tyson had to learn to hold his own at a very young age. After leaving home he happened upon Erasmus T. Morganstern, an eccentric doctor from Back East peddling a medicine to boost strength and health. The foul-smelling oil made all of his customers violently ill... except for Tyson, who grew into a truly massive chicken, with strength to match.

Morgenstern paid Tyson handsomely to travel from town to town, giving testimonials for the elixir and performing feats of strength. Tyson was the only chicken the formula seemed to work for, however – angry customers drove Morganstern out of Cool Ranch altogether, but were so intimidated by Tyson that they left the huge chicken alone.

Tyson continued to roam cool ranch, earning an income by making bets he could perform seemingly impossible feats of strength. And that was how he met Buffalo Bill, who offered Tyson a new way to show off his extraordinary strength. Tyson found himself boxing for Bill’s travelling show, and the skills he’d learned brawling with his brothers made him a fearsome opponent indeed...

Silver Dino Hawkins sent us this great picture this month of him and his twin elf buddy, Alex. In his own words, this screenshot “…captures the magic of friendship and fun, both which are some of the best gifts one can ask for this Christmas.” We couldn’t agree more! Thanks for sending us this screenshot, Dino!

Fan Art Spotlight

We’ve been getting a lot of great fan art the past few months, but it’s never enough for us. We need more! If you’re artist that likes to draw fan art of Pirate101, we’d love to see your stuff. Sure, go ahead and post it on Tumblr to your friends, but don’t forget to also send it our way in an email to community@pirate101.com. Thanks!

Our Fan Art Spotlight this month goes to a player named Bloody Scarlet. Scarlet sent us this fan art along with a touching story about her friend Dead-eye Omar Devereaux, who she hadn’t seen in years. I guess you could call this a wanted poster! If you’re out there Omar, Bloody Scarlet misses you!

Bloody Scarlet also added a few thoughts for our readers: “I'd just like to say that ever since I played Wizard101 in 2009 and Pirate101 in 2013, I've met some of the most amazing people that have changed me and made me who I am today. Moments on both Wizard101 and Pirate101 were some of the best ones in my entire life. Although questing and all the fun activities you can do were a blast, it was the people that made these games memorable and it was an honor to draw one of those people!”
