Ranked PvP

P.1.080 – Spiral Date 587218

null

Get ready to test your mettle! Mickey Dugan in Skull Island wants to introduce you to his friend Enzo Scorbutico in the Brawlin’ Hall to teach you about Ranked PVP. In Ranked PVP you can battle other players to earn ranks, badges and rewards! Members have unlimited access to Ranked PVP matches. Crowns players can purchase passes per match, day or season.

Don’t worry! The Spar Chamber is still available if you’d like some old fashioned practice PvP as well.

PvP Modes

null

There are two types of Ranked PVP matches available for play. In 1vs1 matches you face off against one other player in a test of wits and skill! In Battle Royale mode, four pirates enter the battle and only one will emerge victorious. When you sign up to participate in a Ranked PVP match, the matchmaking system will attempt to place you in a battle with appropriate opponents.

Scores, Ranking and Rewards

null

As you compete in Ranked PVP matches, you will gain points to raise your rank. There are 8 possible ranks to achieve: Contender, Brawler, Warrior, Gladiator, Veteran, Hero, Paragon and Champion. As you gain points your rank will increase, but if you lose matches your rank will decrease. For each match you complete you will receive an amount of Scrip as a reward. Winners will receive a higher amount of Scrip and this amount will increase with each rank you achieve!

With all of the Scrip you will acquire through Ranked PVP, you can purchase awesome rewards including powerful new weapons, cool new housing items and pets.

Ranked PvP Seasons

null

Compete to stay at the top of your game in PVP Seasons! Every three months, a new season will come to Ranked PVP. This will reset ranks and even the playing field for all players. At the end of each season, players who have rank Brawler and higher will receive a scrip reward based on their rank. With each new season, you can earn slightly different badges and rewards to show your skill and dedication to staying on top of the game!

New PvP Rewards and Vendors

New scrip vendors have entered the Brawlin’ Hall to reward you for your successful PvP matches! Now you can buy new pets, new weapons, and new housing items outside of the Black Market. While browsing these new wares, don’t miss Candyce Olsen’s very special “art books” that she has for sale. These unique housing items are placed in your player housing and allow you to flip through pages and pages of original concept art that made Pirate101 the great game it is!

Nautical Gauntlet

null

Pirates of Nautical Level 45 or above can visit Mickey Dugan in Skull Island to take on the quest “The Pirate’s Regatta!” for a new adventure! Gather three friends and get ready to take on a challenging Nautical Gauntlet, best experienced by players Level 65. Work together to defeat waves of enemy ships and face off against a powerful boss ship for rewards including Scrip, smuggled Wizard City goods and a chance at new pets!

Mysterious New Trainers

null

Tucked away in a hidden location you'll find this mysterious stranger (and other clandestine pirates) ready to teach you some powerful abilities. These trainers are busy folks, often off on adventures of their own, so they are not always available. Check back at various times to see who you might meet and what knowledge they have to impart.

Combat and Abilities

A new option has been added to reduce the amount of time required for combat animations to play. Visit the Gameplay Options screen and set Fast Combat to “Yar” in order to display the quicker combat animations. Please note: each player’s setting for Fast Combat only affects their own character and companions.

The following abilities are now PvE only (not usable in PvP):

  • Charm (and Charming Gaze)
  • Blood Flames (granted by Captain Blood's Jacket)
  • Infernal Wave (granted by Moo Manchu's hat)
  • Frozen Tide (granted by Moo Manchu's boots)

Abilities such as Piratey, Big Guns and Battle Banners will recognize Enemy Territory differently in Ranked PVP matches. Enemy Territory in Ranked PVP will refer to the area in which the opponent begins the match only.

In PVP, temporary stat increases, decreases and temporary talents will not stack. Instead, only the most powerful effect for each stat type will be used. These changes only apply in PvP; buffs are unchanged for the PvE experience.

Assassin’s Shroud cannot target objects.

Combat oriented elixirs are no longer usable in PVP.

Doubloons cannot be used in Ranked PVP.

Prior to this update, the Raise Barricade power improved with level by adding more hit points to the obstacle. With this update, you will now find that Raise Barricade also increases the number of battleboard obstacles you summon as your level increases.

First Strike Rank 3, Quick Draw Rank 3 and Intuition Rank 3 can now all remove a hidden attacker from hiding before the attack triggers.

Fixed an issue with the power “The Big Guns” which prevented it from adding fire to open squares.

Fixed an issue with Leviathan's Call (and other defensive buffs in this line of Buccaneer powers) that was preventing them from applying correctly.

Companion Changes

Since you'll no doubt be eager to tweak your strategy for PvP, we've dramatically reduced the cost to respec your companions. Crowns players will pay a fee in Crowns that scales based on level with a maximum cost of 2,000 Crowns. Gold cost for Members has also been reduced.

The manner in which companions earn Epic Talents has changed in order to make all companions more viable at all levels. Beginning with this update, companions will earn additional talents as they progress in level, in addition to earning Epic Talents for each promotion. Previously, companions that you received in the high-level worlds (such as Marleybone and Aquila) were simply granted bonus talents to account for their high-level stature. This new change means companions that you gain in the early worlds– such as Bonnie Anne, among many others-- will gain epic talents as they level up, putting them on an even footing with latter companions like Catbeard and Hawkules. Each companion's total number of talents is a combination of both level and promotion rank. Companions will receive an Epic Talent at levels 15, 35, 55 and with each completed promotion quest. Please note that, although all companions will eventually be better off in the long run, some companions may have fewer talents than before at low levels. We will not remove assigned talents from any companion, but if you respec a companion and they should have fewer talents than before, the new total will be enforced at that time.

The Yule Trogg now has trainable epic talents.

Tricky Vinny has a new promotion available!

The following Witchdoctor companions will now have access to Intuition 3: Serpent Augur, Khord, Inoshishi Necromancer, Carcarius Grimtooth, Crab Hermit, Mormo, Old Scratch, Eep Opp Ork Ah-Ah, Chilam Bak.

Pets

New hybrid combinations are available to be discovered, including some swimming, feathered and purring pets! Happy morphing, Pirates!

Added a gold sell price to pets that were incorrectly listed with a value of zero.

In PVP matches, pets now receive a join chance penalty for each level they are above the Pirate’s level. Attempting to bring a pet into PvP that is much higher than your Pirate will reduce its join chance (possibly down to 0%).

Pets with Scent are much better at sniffing out hidden enemies. Pets will reveal you if they move near you, and pets will reveal you if you move near them.

Other Changes

All players will receive one free practice point reset for each character on their account.

The entry sigil for Karo’s Lair has been updated to show the correct name.

Ranked PVP related phrases have been added to Menu Chat.

The Ronin Renegade and Enlightened One badges now appear in the Quest tab.

The Haunted Skyway Undertaker badge now appears in the Exploration tab.

The amount of Armor and Resist that applies to attacks has been increased to make these stats more effective.

Upkeep and Maintenance--Spiral Date 587587 (8/7/2015)

Fixed an issue that caused players with a season or day pass for Ranked PVP to be charged for each match.

Upkeep and Maintenance--Spiral Date 587937 (8/12/2015)

To help address balance issues, Terrorcotta Warriors will behave slightly differently when used in PVP. They will use Vicious Charge less often and their Leviathan’s Call cannot be activated until the Warrior has less than 75% health.

Art books and chess piece housing items will now also be available at the Black Market housing item vendor near Squid Viscious.

Fixed an issue with the rates of return on Pets from Pet Wrangling. While they will be slightly easier to acquire than in the past, an error raised this rate a bit too high.

Upkeep and Maintenance--Spiral Date 588421 (8/20/2015)

Fixed an issue that caused Terrorcota Warriors to use Leviathan's Call before they drop below 75% health.

The Pirate's Regatta will now play the correct music.

Upkeep and Maintenance--Spiral Date 590522 (9/16/2015)

The Imperial Robes of Moo Manchu’s power, Summon Terror-Cotta Troupe, is greatly reduced in PvP only. Each Warrior has only a 25% chance to be summoned when called. This base chance increases as the caster's Will increases. Terror-Cotta Warriors cannot use Leviathan's Call until they drop below 75% health.

Fixed an issue that caused the Swashbuckler Banner to grant Elusive when on the player’s side of the board, rather than only when on the enemy’s side of the board.

Ensign Emmitt and Exeter now have access to 3 ranks of a new power designed to slow down the advance of the enemy. Each new rank will unlock automatically when the companion reaches the correct level and promotion.

Crow's Song and Raven's Cry will now provide bonus talents to players and companions of attack type Magic.

Old Scratch now has access to three ranks of Mojo Flow, a new power designed to boost the Spell Power stat of his fellow practitioners. This spell acts like a stat buff, boosting the Spell Power of all Magic-type companions (regardless of range) and all adjacent companions (regardless of type). Each new rank will unlock automatically when Old Scratch reaches the correct level and promotion.

The Summer’s Fire ability now affects a larger target area.

Upkeep and Maintenance--Spiral Date 591943 (10/1/2015)

Fixed an issue that caused Raven’s Cry to give Musketeer talents to Witchdoctors.

Further adjusted the effect of Will on summoning of Terror-Cotta Warriors from Moo Manchu’s Robe.

Rank 2 and 3 of Mojo Flow will now boost Spell Power instead of Will.

Visual and sound effects have been added to Polarian Express mount.
