It's not like the storyline update is actually going to come out soon, possibly ever, but I am just gonna warn you that you won't get your XP back if you redeem all your side quests before more player levels are available. Just leave your quests sitting on the last goal so that you can easily collect the XP once levels come out.

Here's my Player XP hoard:

So if you do this, you can level up at least once in both Player and Nautical ranks. I only hardly made it with Nautical though, because most quests, even ship-related ones, don't give much Nautical XP. I hope you try this, and if you already are doing this, would you please Yar at least? Most famous forumers get like 3 Yars per post, no matter what it's about, and I usually don't get any Yars per post.

Lol, that's quite a lot of #s there Andrew. I simply had to yar your post because of all those #s & thinking about all you put into your post gave me a fantastic headache that required lots of ice cream to restore my brain's equilibrium. Well done & I thank you for giving me yet another reason to eat ice cream...as if I need any excuse!

In all seriousness, it has been stated many times that we, the dedicated defenders of the Spiral, will be given more than ample XP in future updates to allow our young orphans to uphold our Armada-Aggravating-And-Agitating duties. For awhile there I waited to finish up Aquila & many side quests, because I wanted to save precious XP, but then I just thought 'eh, why wait?'. We'll get our due XP & great gear & before we know it, we'll be cruising along in new worlds (via that ever elusive update) gaining gobs & gaggles of XP galore. I might 'save' XP for some of my other pirates, once they hit 65, since I have already experienced the storyline & all side quests to date, with 1 pirate. But I do believe that with the new content//update we will surely be given the same fair deal that was dealt to us before. As in, use all available side quests to get a few levels ahead & make things a wee bit easier, or choose not to & simply progress through the game at the 'intended' story line level, encountering a little more 'friction' as we go.

An extra level or two just may not really matter in the grand scheme of things, but at least we have the option to do as we like, choose & see fit. Another example of KI letting us choose our own path & experiences while playing this great game-- that truly does need to be updated soon for the sake of all of our sanity & just because we yearn for more.

Oh, & I wouldn't really worry too much about yars, who yars & how many yars. Just post what makes you feel good & what interests you & that's all we can do. Being able to express ourselves is a value in itself, more so than any number or amount of yars.

I've been doing this in both pirate and wiz for 3 years... its not really anything new... honestly, this is good for a leap in xp early in an update's lifespan, but the main story gives you more than enough xp. Considering how good pirate's story is, I'd rather just do the main line and finish the new books at roughly the same time, rather than maxing out halfway through, and feeling guilty about wasting experience. It's why overleveling works fine early on in wizard, but when the main story dictates what spells you learn, it's better to just ignore the sides amd go with the main so you don't waste experience. It's good to be overleveled early on when the only change is learning powers and being stronger sooner, but when you max out later on, when you should finish what you can of the story, it's best to stay away from going out of your way to be sooner stronger.

This brings up a VERY passionate opinion of mine:

"Why is there a level cap at all?"

It is called experience, so why is there a limit to it? In the real world, you never hit a maximum level of experience; you can always be better at something than you all ready are. But in the spiral, there is- but only for your pirate. I think El Toro learned the 'you can always be better' lesson in his promotion, so it can't be as some people call it, Spiral logic. The only reason I can think of for the frankly absurd notion of your pirate simply not able to get better at piracy is that they don't want players to go to a higher level so any updates will still be a challenge. I am fine with that just, if there is a level cap, DON'T CALL IT EXPERIENCE!!!!
