Although my main pirate ( a swashy ) has Born Warrior - MooShu Origin ( & has done well ), my alternate swashy has benefited most from Naturally Sneaky - Skull Island origin.
Bucks would do best with Born Warrior or Naturally Tough - Grizzleheim origin.
Privateers would benefit most from Naturally Spooky - Krokotopia origin, for the bonus to Will.
This is all opinion, choose what you think is best for you. I've seen some very successful swashies with Naturally Spooky.
The companions that come with your choice of "parents death" are very good for any class, any way a player wants it.
And that's what's best about this game - individual choices, instead of every musketeer being exactly like every other musketeer or buccaneer, swashbuckler, privateer, or witchdoctor.
If you've made a choice that another player tells you was bad - then roll with that "disadvantage" you can make it work for you!

I disagree. Every class should pick spooky
Bucklers: get more poison and bleed damage that helps a lot in combat.
Musket: gets more damage on cannonballs.
Witchdoctor: More spell damage.
Buccaneer: More bleed damage if using assassins and all good bucks use assassins.
Privy: Better big guns and soul shroud.
Note this also helps every class with healing it increases all your heals by 5%

I hope you're not serious. If you want that spooky damage, just train 2 ranks in staffy.

In my opinion I disagree in some area. Here is my recommended character build and companion for each class in this case pirate.

= For the companion, I would choose either Armada or Lost.
For ability, Naturally Spooky or Naturally Tough.

= This Class need strong companions. I would say Sky Squid, Lost or Armada.
For ability Naturally Tough or in my case Born warrior ( the marine class ).

= For companion, the Mutiny one. ( This companion fits well, with the spooky team.)
For ability,Naturally Spooky

= For companion storm or lost
For ability Keen eyes or Born sneaky ( the sniper class )

= For companion Sky squid or Storm
For ability Naturally tough ( the fencer class ) or born sneaky ( the ninja class )

This the class choices I used based on my experience as a player, in my opinion they work really well. Until then happy Halloween.
