Chumba Wumba doesn't drop a chest in battle

Every time I kill Chumba Wumba, I just see 3 chests from his water mole minions. There's no tiny gold chest or anything resembling a boss chest. I really want that Tubthumper staff, but I don't think it's possible without buying from the second chance chest.

I noticed the same thing. I got it eventually from second chance chest.
